Dovetail is stepping up to help protect personally identifiable information (PII) and strengthen your organization’s data governance. You can now manage access to your contacts database with new, granular permission controls.
Available on Enterprise plans, only admins have full access and can assign one of four access levels to each role: Full access, Can edit, Can use, and No access.
This update, released on July 2, 2025, also changes how access works across new and existing workspaces:
For any new workspaces created after this date, all users are granted full access by default.
For workspaces created before this date, existing permissions have been preserved. However, only Admins now have full access. Other roles that previously had access now have Can edit permissions, which allow them to create, edit, link, and comment on a contact—without the ability to manage access levels.
While the Contacts database is available on both Professional and Enterprise plans, only Enterprise customers can configure access levels. On Professional plans, all users continue to have full access.
These controls give your team greater flexibility to work with customer data, while maintaining tight control over who can view and manage contact records.
