We’ve introduced new versions of our Free, Professional, and Enterprise plans with updated price points and functionality, for new customers only.
One of our five company values is “open by default”, so in the interests of being transparent and providing clarity, here’s why we updated our pricing and what’s specifically changing.
Like all businesses, we’re constantly assessing our pricing to ensure that our plans and their inclusions are intuitive and make sense at a glance; that they’re priced fairly for the value our software and customer-facing teams provide; and that they reflect the latest features, usage, and costs.
Whether you’re designing kitchen appliances, collaboration software, or employee experience tooling, our mission is to help teams around the world improve the quality of every thing. Through talking to customers, conducting research, and listening to feedback, we believe that Dovetail helps lots of teams improve their product, so to achieve our mission, we always try to make our software available at the lowest price.
One of the biggest changes we’ve made is reducing the starting price of Channels from $500 / month / 500 data points to just $50 / month / 500 data points, as well as a much lower Professional price point of $15 / user / month. That makes it easier for smaller teams to adopt, experiment, and scale up as they grow.
We also want to make it easier for new users to get started with Dovetail, and easier to understand the value of upgrading. We often receive feedback that the full power of Dovetail can be overwhelming for new users and that people have to learn a lot of concepts when they start out. Now, each plan has a clearer set of features enabling users to start with a simple “Free” experience and unlock more functionality as usage grows.
Lastly, with new AI-powered features and products like contextual chat, magic insights, Channels, and Recruit, Dovetail is evolving into a customer intelligence platform to support analyzing and taking action on customer insights across functional teams like customer experience, sales, marketing, support, and more.
To reflect all of that, and our ongoing investment in improving Dovetail with the latest technology, our pricing needed to better align with different customer needs—from individuals and startups to large enterprises.
Free is simpler with one project and one channel and is suitable for individuals, students, and non-profits. AI transcription, summarization, and chat are unlimited while in beta.
Professional focuses on core AI features and deeper analysis tools for small teams. Professional includes unlimited projects and channels, semantic search, advanced features within projects, and more.
Enterprise unlocks advanced collaboration and administration features for large organizations deploying Dovetail across teams with needs around compliance, governance, and security.
Free is designed for individuals, students, and non-profits to quickly make sense of data like video calls, audio recordings, documents, and survey responses with AI analysis features like chat and summarization.
Our updated Free plan includes unlimited free users; one project with unlimited transcription and summarization; our new AI contextual chat feature to chat with your data; and one channel to get started analyzing product feedback and voice of customer data with AI.
AI features on Free are unlimited while in beta and this is subject to change. Data points for Channels are now just $50 / month / 500 data points and can be purchased on a credit card.
Professional is designed for freelancers and teams who need more than one project and channel as well as advanced analysis functionality like tags, views, filters, layouts, charts, and insights.
Our updated Professional plan is now $15 / month per user and includes unlimited projects and channels; project-level analysis features like overview, tags, insights, charts, layouts, views, and filters; AI features like advanced summaries and semantic search; and unlimited transcription, storage, summarization, and chat.
Like Free, data points for Channels are available to purchase for $50 / month / 500 data points.
Enterprise is designed for businesses with more than 100 employees who need organizational, administrative, and security functionality, custom contracts, and scalable pricing that supports multi-team collaboration.
Our Enterprise plan now includes Ask Dovetail for unlimited chat queries in Slack and Teams. Features like folders and user roles (including free viewers) are now only available on Enterprise. Enterprise also has advanced AI features like custom vocabulary and translation; global tags, fields, and templates; as well as redaction, access control, custom data retention, and dozens of other administrative, security, and compliance functionality.

Our new plans above are for new users only. If you’re an existing paid user, you don’t need to do anything as there is no change to your existing configuration. You’ll remain on your legacy plan with your existing price point and all the inclusions you had when you signed up, and you can continue with that legacy plan if you wish to.
While our new Professional plan has a lower monthly price ($15 compared to $39 before), it also comes with fewer inclusions as it is tailored to new users who don’t need the same level of functionality you already rely on. Towards the end of your current billing period, you can choose to renew your plan as is (stay on “Legacy Professional”) or switch to our new Professional plan which has a lower price but more limited features.
The following functionality from Legacy Professional is no longer on our new $15 / month Professional plan:
User roles like managers, contributors, and viewers.
Free viewers which were configured via user roles.
Folders to organize work into departments and teams.
Home to show recent activity in the workspace.
Inclusion of 250 monthly data points for Channels.
Pay by invoice versus credit card.
If you’d like to move from Legacy Professional to the current Professional plan, simply cancel your existing plan before the end of your billing period, and then once your billing period is over, you’ll be able to upgrade again and choose the new Professional plan. If you’d like to unlock additional features and support, please contact us to discuss Enterprise.
We’re excited about how these new plans simplify our product experience, and how these reduced price points reflect our direction to become the best platform for teams who care about understanding their customers, no matter the function or scale.
As always, if you have questions, we’re here to help. Chat with our support team in-product, via our help center, or in our Slack Community.
